As I painted this piece I felt like I was watching the sunset really happening, appearing from nothing, slowly developing and then hitting it’s peak. One moment frozen in time.

Slowly building the colorful layers in the clouds became more and more satisfying. I would leave my studio every night excited to return in the morning to further develop the light in the clouds and on the mountain peak. It was easy to know when I had completed this painting.
